Private Insurance
As of May 1st, 2023, Rivertree Osteopathic Health no longer accepts private insurance or MaineCare. Full payment is required at scheduling or the time of the appointment. This is due to increasing challenges to small private practices including decreased reimbursement and high administrative costs. Our rates are below the average for Osteopathic Manipulation specialty practices in Maine. In most cases insurance will reimburse you based on your policy and we will provide you with a superbill at the time of your visit.
Medicare and Medicare Advantage
As of January 1, 2025, Rivertree Osteopathic Health is “Non-participating” with Medicare. This means that, if you have traditional Medicare (not Medicare Advantage), we will require full payment of $176 – $185 per visit at the time of your appointment. This will be 110% of the expected participating Medicare rate, the allowable amount for non-participating providers. We will submit claims to Medicare on your behalf and Medicare will directly reimburse you for your visit. If you have secondary insurance, they may pay you part of any remaining balance. In most cases, we estimate that you will pay only $10 – $20 more per visit than you typically pay out of pocket.
